In Carin’s role as Director for Maine Career Connect she is responsible for working with the community to build a sustainable program that enhances recruitment and supports retention of quality professionals in our state.
As a trailing spouse herself arriving to Maine in 2012, Carin is passionate about helping other professional spouses/partners and families fall in love with Maine.
Carin brings over a decade of nonprofit and business writing experience to the job as well as decades of event planning and project development. Carin was born and raised in San Diego, California, completed her undergraduate degree at the University of California Santa Barbara and her graduate degree at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. Besides California and Washington, Carin has lived in Illinois, Maryland and North Carolina and she is very glad to call Bangor, Maine home.
Carin is active in the local community both as a current volunteer for FUSION:Bangor as well a volunteer ski patroller for Hermon Mountain and serves as the VP on the Cohen Middle School Boosters.
Carin lives in the Little City neighborhood in Bangor with her husband, Jeff and three children, Aleksei, Gavin and Genevieve.
As Project Consultant for Maine Career Connect, Michelle is supporting the development and implementation of programming in the Bangor region as well as facilitating business development growth in other parts of the state.
Michelle was the Founding Project Leader of Maine Career Connect under the University of Maine in 2014, turning the program over to Carin’s capable hands in 2015. Michelle continued to support Maine Career Connect as an advisory council member until recently when Michelle’s return to employment at the University of Maine as a human resources business partner allowed for the opportunity to provide consultation as part of her current position.
Michelle has a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Husson University along with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from The University of Maine. In addition, Michelle holds certifications in professional coaching and as a trainer for Crossing Cultures with Competence. Michelle’s work experience includes more than a decade of nonprofit program management and development along with human resources activities including recruitment, career development and workforce planning.
Michelle is active in the Bangor region participating as a steering committee member for the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce Fusion:Bangor program and a past participant of the Bangor Region Leadership Institute. Michelle lives in the Fairmount neighborhood in Bangor with husband, Elliott and children, Allison and Owen.
